Any college student who is a current resident of the Town of Arlington can apply for a scholarship grant that is funded by the taxpayers of the Town, through Arlington's Dollars For Scholars Program, with contributions made by means of a tax checkoff box on Arlington's municipal tax and utility bills. How To ApplyYou can obtain a scholarship application packet in the following ways:
Filing DeadlineCompleted applications are due at the Town Treasurer's Department on March 1, or the first school day thereafter if March 1 falls on a Saturday, Sunday or non-school day. Eligibility RequirementsThe student must be a legal resident of the Town of Arlington. They must be presently attending, or have received acceptance to attend, an accredited educational institution beyond high school level prior to the time for payment of scholarship award. A personal interview is required before financial aid is awarded. Supporting documents must be submitted if requested by the Scholarship Committee. Tax ExemptionAs a result of Arlington's affiliation with Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America, Inc. (CSFA) and New England Dollars For Scholars, the town's tax checkoff program qualifies as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Therefore, the full amount of all contributions made to the tax checkoff program are deductible as a charitable contribution.
